    =================================================================

    Dear Ex-SPYs,

    Greetings.

I believed many of us have heard news about the recent earthquake and tsunami occurred in Japan.

While friends in Tokyo and IYEO are fine, many in northeast Japan, like Miyagi, Iwate, Fukushima, Aomori, Ibaraki are badly affected. Many of us have visited one or more of these places during SSEAYP.

For your information, IYEO has opened a bank account to receive donations from IYEO members and others. When the situation allows, IYEO Vice-President Reiko and other IYEO Board Members will visit the affected areas to better understand the needs and decide how best to use the donations and deploy volunteers to meet those needs.

SIS is appealing to all fellow SIS members to remember and reach out to our friends in those affected areas by giving support in whatever manner we could.

Members can send their donations via SIS. Please note that this is an internal fund raising drive targeted at members only. SIS does not have a permit to collect funds from members of the public.

Details on how members can make a donation:

    1. By cheque made payable to : SSEAYP International Singapore
    2. Information to be written on reverse side of cheque : "Name", "Batch / Year ", "Email"
    3. Mail cheque to :

    SSEAYP International Singapore
    c/o National Youth Council
    113 Somerset Road
    *Scape Youth Centre
    Singapore 238165

    Collection period : 20 Mar - 30 Apr 2011

SIS will acknowledge donations from members. Please note that receipts issued by SIS are not tax deductible. Donations will be consolidated and handed over to representative of IYEO on during SIGA 2011.

SIS is also looking into the feasibility to arrange members to meet representatives of IYEO during SIGA 2011 to get an update on the situation of SSEAYP members in Japan and for members to write messages as well as folding paper cranes for friends living in the affected areas. Check your email for more information.
Thank you for your kind attention.
