Nippon Maru,
Thanks for the Memories...

SSEAYP INTERNATIONAL SINGAPORE (SIS) celebrated the 30th anniversary of SSEAYP with a dinner at Orchard Hotel on 29th November 2003. We were honoured to have Mr Chan Soo Sen, the Minister of State for Education, to grace the stunning event as our Guest-of-Honour.

The Speeches...

And More Speeches...

Laughter, gossips, compliments, new babies, what have you. When SPYs gather, there’s no stopping the noise level from reaching deafening decibels. So “a-l-i-v-e” ...spirited & vibrant were they that you have to pull them apart to get the dinner started.

“The similarity of friendship between old friends and warm smiles on their faces? They both stand the test of time”

...We Sang

...We Danced

...We Cheered!!!
The evening had its share of songs, dances, games, contests, table draws and lucky draws . All were treated to a kaleidoscope of the 30 years of SSEAYP in flashes via our Commemorative CD which was later given to each member. It certainly brought back memories of the days long gone by.

The lucky draw winners and Director, NYC (in the middle) giving out the prizes
The unique way in which the new logo was unveiled left everyone wanting more. What is an anniversary if there was no celebratory cake. The cake was made in the shape of a cute, plump Nippon Maru. The audience cannot help but bantered on which piece of the ship they should have.

Gone with the old logo...

The official launch of the new SIS Logo!

The evening climaxed with a rendition of the song “Nippon Maru” with all participants holding hands and singing their hearts out. All went back with fond memories and firm friendships relived and renewed once again that evening. SSEAYP forever!!!

My SSEAYP memories

Blue waters rolling beneath white crests
Liquid landscape broken,
Dreamers floating on a whim.

Tomorrow never comes,
Only the music of laughter abound.
Too tired to care, too happy to worry.

Sailing into foreign lands,
Living with second homes.
Fostered kinships sealed with
ribbons and tears.

A moment of waiting
Turns into an eternity of regrets.
Pain , confusion ; anger , resignation.

When acceptance finally comes,
Laughter echoes through carpeted halls
Once again

Sorrow greets the grey morning.
Strangers no longer
But leaving just the same.

Rapturous moments recalled.
Sparks among the stars,
Eternal in our own cosmos
